“Why you?”, you may ask. Well, since you are a part of the telecom channel, and you solve customer problems by implementing CPE, it should be about you taking advantage of the OM PBX API, creating the ability for you to double your addressable CPE market.
In his 1980 book The Third Wave, Alvin Toffler predicted that technology would allow society to transition to the post-industrial age, where Henry Ford’s “You can have it in any color you like, as long as it’s black,” is replaced by Toffler’s “demassification” or “mass customization.” In a 2004 Wired article entitled “The Long Tail”, Chris Anderson (physicist and editor-in-chief of Wired Magazine from 2001-2012) introduced the term “long tail” as applied to business and marketing channels. Anderson’s “Long Tail” describes the effects of demassification/mass customization on markets and distribution channels.
In traditional brick-and-mortar retailing, it only pays to inventory the most popular (highest volume) products. But in “scale-free” marketing channels (or those approaching it), the total market can be doubled by selling small volumes of low-demand items. That is where the OM PBX’s included API excels by allowing you to meet unique customer applications through customization.
So, what are some of the things you can do with the API? Anything the PBX can do autonomously, the API allows your software to do remotely. This allows you to provide your customers with just about any application you can think of that can be developed;
And, if a remote API doesn’t allow you to fully meet a requirement, we now have an ancillary processor in the OM50S PBX, totally uncommitted…just waiting for you.

We are often asked whether our OM PBXs are based on open source, such as Asterisk. The answer is no, the OM PBXs are all based on proprietary code developed in house. Obviously, this gives us full control of the function and performance of these amazing products. And it’s why we were able to add our exclusive Smart FoIP® to the OM20 and OM50 PBXs, providing built-in fax-over-IP capabilities. This reduces the requirement for a Smart ATA® sale, reducing your customer’s cost, lowering your power requirements, also giving your customer a smaller footprint.
